Product Information

Name:
Etamicastat hydrochloride
Description:

Etamicastat hydrochloride is a drug that inhibits the activity of the human liver enzyme CYP2D6. It is an inhibitor of the acetylation of dopamine to noradrenaline, which is important for the synthesis of adrenaline and dopamine. Etamicastat hydrochloride has been shown to have affinity for both human and monkey tissues. It also inhibits hydroxylation in rat plasma, liver cytosol, and liver microsomes. This drug has also been shown to inhibit dopamine hydroxylase in rat brain tissue as well as in vitro studies with human liver preparations. Etamicastat hydrochloride has been found to be effective against Parkinson's disease and other diseases that are associated with a decrease in dopamine levels.
