Description:

SR 57227A is a 5-HT receptor antagonist. It binds to the serotonin 5-HT7 receptor and blocks the inhibitory effect of serotonin on locomotor activity and electrophysiological properties. SR 57227A also binds to the 5-HT4 receptor and blocks its inhibitory effect on cytosolic Ca2+. SR 57227A has a profile that is similar to that of piperidine hydrochloride, which is used as a pharmacological agent in humans. SR 57227A also has agonistic effects on the GABA receptors, which may be due to its ability to bind to the GABA receptor with high affinity.
