Product Information
Glyceryl hexacosanoate is an antibacterial agent that is effective against Gram-positive bacteria. It also has been shown to inhibit the growth of leukemia cells in a dose-dependent manner. Glyceryl hexacosanoate is a diterpene ester, consisting of six acetic acid residues and one fatty acid residue. The compound's chemical structure resembles that of β-amyrin, which has been shown to have anti-cancer properties. The compound was found to be active against Gram-positive bacteria by inhibiting mitochondrial membrane potential and cell wall synthesis. It also showed cytotoxicity against leukemia cells, with a reduction in resazurin production at a concentration of 1 μg/mL. Glyceryl hexacosanoate was found to exhibit antibacterial activity as well as cytotoxic effects on leukemia cells using gel chromatography assays.
