Description:U91356 is an agonist of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. It is a potent inhibitor of ACh-activated currents in rat sympathetic neurons, and also inhibits potassium-evoked currents in rat hippocampal neurons. U91356 is a competitive antagonist at the alpha3beta4 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, but does not inhibit responses to ACh or nicotine in mice with alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor deficiency.
