Product Information
Dehydro-δ-tocopherol is a natural antioxidant that belongs to the group of tocopherols. It is an inhibitor of protostemonine, a proteinase that has been shown to be involved in the destruction of skin cells. Dehydro-δ-tocopherol also inhibits cutaneous inflammation by inhibiting the release of histamine and other proinflammatory mediators. In addition, it can inhibit lipid peroxidation reactions and may have potential neuroprotective effects. Acetate extracts from tuberosa plants have shown inhibition against Staphylococcus epidermidis, which is a cause of skin infections. Dehydro-δ-tocopherol can also form nanoemulsions when mixed with lipids, which can inhibit growth and activity of S. epidermidis and other bacterial strains.
