This drug has been shown to be effective in reducing inflammation by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. 6-(Methylsulfanyl)-1H-indole also has a hydrophilic conformation that allows it to have greater selectivity for COX-2 than other drugs, such as celecoxib.
