Description:
Heteronoside is a flavone that has been isolated from the stem bark of Heterophyllus erythrophyllus. It has been shown to be cytotoxic to human colon cancer cells, with an IC50 of 3.2 μM in MTT assays. This compound also inhibits protein synthesis and induces apoptosis in human colon cancer cells. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit DNA replication in human leukemia U937 cells. Heteronoside has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animal studies.
