Product Information
AZD 9272 is a small molecule drug that binds to the m1 muscarinic receptor and allosteric modulates its activity. It also selectively binds to other muscarinic receptors, such as M3 and M5. In vitro studies have shown that AZD 9272 has a high binding affinity for the m1 receptor and inhibits acetylcholine-induced activation of the receptor. The compound may be a potential drug target for the treatment of cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.
AZD 9272 has been shown to reduce amyloid beta levels in an experimental model of Alzheimer's disease. It also increases gamma-aminobutyric acid levels in vitro and reduces glutamate release in vivo in animal models of epilepsy. AZD 9272 has no effect on dopamine levels or locomotor activity, making it a suitable candidate for treating Parkinson's disease without side effects such as dyskinesia or psychosis.
