Product Information

Name:
Neocaesalpin L
Description:

Neocaesalpin L is a natural product that has been used in traditional folk medicine to treat cancer. Neocaesalpin L is an analog of neochlorogenic acid and is structurally similar to forskolin, which has shown anticancer activity. The biosynthesis of Neocaesalpin L begins with the conversion of caffeic acid (1) to p-coumaric acid (2), followed by hydroxylation at position 3 to form ferulic acid (3). Ferulic acid can then be converted into isoferulic acid, which can be oxidized at position 4 to form caffeic acid. Conversion of caffeic acid into neochlorogenic acid occurs via hydrolysis and decarboxylation. Pharmacodynamics studies have demonstrated that Neocaesalpin L inhibits influenza virus replication and suppresses the release of proinflammatory cytokines in response to influenza virus infection.
