Product Information
Raf1 forms part of the histone H3K9 methyltransferase complex CLRC, along with Clr4, Raf2, Cul4, and Rik1 and is required for heterochromatin formation. CLRC mediates H3K9 methylation, siRNA production and also displays E3-ubiquitin ligase activity in vitro.
Raf1 is a DCAF (DDB1 and CUL4 associated factor) for CLRC. DCAFs act as substrate receptors for E3 ligases and may couple ubiquitination with histone methylation. Raf1 plays an essential role in coupling H3K9 methylation and siRNA production.
