Product Information
Factor located in oocytes permitting embryonic development (FLOPED)/OOEP, along with, MATER, TLE6 and Filia, forms the subcortical maternal complex (SCMC). The SCMC assembles during oocyte growth and is essential for zygotes to progress beyond the first embryonic cell divisions.
Floped expression is seen specifically in growing and mature oocytes and in early embryos, and is localised in the subcortex region.
FLOPED/OOEP is conserved across mammals, and mutations in the Floped gene have been linked to female infertility. Floped knockout mutant eggs lack the SCMC and these embryos do not progress beyond cleavage stage development. Therefore FLOPED/OOEP protein seems to have an important function around the zygotic stage and in the subsequent development of the preimplantation embryos. Floped/Ooep gene is considered a typical maternal-effect gene.
Data: Anti-OOEP antibody validated using mouse oocytes isolated from 8 week old FVB/N mice. Oocytes were fixed in 2% PFA (+ 100 mM Hepes).
