Description:
TNF-α is a cytokine that regulates the immune system by stimulating the production of other proteins called cytokines. It also inhibits the growth of bacteria such as Escherichia coli and some viruses. TNF-α has been shown to have a wide range of effects on cells, including inducing cell death (apoptosis) and inhibiting protein synthesis.
It is a non-glycosylated polypeptide with molecular mass of 17.3kDa.
