Description:

Interferon-beta 1a is a cytokine that is used to treat multiple sclerosis and other diseases. It is the product of human recombinant DNA technology and has been shown to be an effective treatment for MS. Interferon-beta 1a inhibits the growth of neuroblastoma cells by inducing apoptosis, or programmed cell death. The drug also down-regulates the expression of proinflammatory cytokines in sh-sy5y neuroblastoma cells. Interferon-beta 1a has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of CHO (Chinese Hamster Ovarian) cells in vitro and may have therapeutic potential for the treatment of breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and ovarian cancer.
