Product Information

Name:
Cycloolivil
Description:

Cycloolivil is a trifluoroacetic acid-soluble extract of the fructus of Secoisolariciresinol. It has significant antifungal activity and can be used to treat skin infections caused by yeast, such as Candida albicans, as well as other fungi, such as Cryptococcus neoformans. Cycloolivil also inhibits the growth of bacteria and is used in pharmaceutical preparations. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of fatty acid synthesis and oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria, which leads to cell death by apoptosis. The acetate extract is primarily used for its anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. Cycloolivil is extracted from the plant using an acetate extraction process that yields a stereoselective product with a high degree of purity.
