Salicylidene benzoylhydrazone is a molecule that belongs to the group P2. It is an inhibitor of protein synthesis and was found to bind to the active site of protein synthesis in k562 cells. The binding of Salicylidene benzoylhydrazone inhibits the formation of hydrogen bonds between oxygen atoms and hydroxyl groups, which are necessary for the production of ATP. This compound has been shown to be effective against cancer cells; however, it is not stable in vivo and does not cross the blood-brain barrier. Salicylidene benzoylhydrazone has been shown to have a number of other effects, including binding to copper complexes, nitrogen atoms, and damaged proteins.
