NFAT Activation Inhibitor III is a chemical inhibitor that prevents the activation of NFAT. NFATs are transcription factors that regulate the expression of genes in cells. The activation of NFATs is triggered by Ca2+ signals and growth factors, which are important for cardiac hypertrophy. This inhibitor has been shown to prevent the development of cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure in vivo and in vitro models. It also inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β, IL-6, and TNFα. NFAT Activation Inhibitor III may also be used to treat inflammation or neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease.
