Product Information

Name:
Terephthalonitrile N,N'-dioxide
Synonyms:
  • Terephthalonitrile NN-Dioxide
  • (Benzene-1,4-Diyldimethylylidyne)Bis(Azane) Dioxide
Description:

Terephthalonitrile N,N'-dioxide is a high-temperature thermosetting resin that is used to impregnate and stabilize polyimide laminates. Terephthalonitrile N,N'-dioxide cures at temperatures of 250°C to 300°C and has been shown to be stable up to 400°C. The nitrile functional group in this compound provides superior thermal stability as well as resistance to acids and bases. Terephthalonitrile N,N'-dioxide is often used in the manufacture of polyimide films for laminates that are used in high-temperature applications (250°C to 400°C). It can also be used as an additive in the production of polymers.
