Decloxizine dihydrochloride is a medicine used to treat chronic pulmonary diseases. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of chronic bronchitis, including reducing the incidence of acute exacerbations and improving pulmonary function. Decloxizine dihydrochloride is a fructus derived from Chinese medicine. It has been shown to have an analytical method that can be used to determine its effective dose. The extract of fructus decloxizini has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation and degrades gradually in cell culture when exposed to ultraviolet light. Decloxizine dihydrochloride also inhibits the production of histamine from mast cells and thus may be useful for treating autoimmune diseases such as asthma.
