Product Information
Isotetracycline-d6 is a deuterium-labeled analog of tetracycline. It has a reactive alpha-ring that can bind to the ribosome and inhibit protein synthesis. It also has an inhibitory effect on the gene product of bacteriophages and some viruses, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and herpes simplex virus (HSV). Isotetracycline-d6 is used in pharmaceutical preparations for the treatment of infectious diseases. The chromatographic method for detecting tetracyclines involves reacting the drug with dextran sulfate and measuring the amount of free sulfuric acid liberated.
