Taxinine is a taxane-type drug that can be found in the leaves of the yew tree. Taxinine has been shown to have anti-cancer effects and inhibits tumor growth. It also has immunosuppressive properties and has been used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Taxinine is not active against bacterial cells and is toxic to animal cells. The cytotoxic effect of taxinine on human cells is caused by its ability to inhibit fatty acid synthesis and induce apoptosis through hydrolysis of DNA.
