Product Information
Ethyl 2,5-dihydroxybenzoate is a drug that binds to the transcription-polymerase chain of RNA viruses. It has been shown to inhibit the replication of Rhipicephalus and Pycnoporus species. The hydrogen bond between the hydroxyl group and amine is important for its binding with the transcription-polymerase chain. This drug also inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase, which is an enzyme that maintains the integrity of bacterial DNA. 2,5-Dihydroxybenzoic acid (2,5-DB) can be transformed into ethyl 2,5-dihydroxybenzoate by camphor in an inorganic reaction. In addition, 2,5-DB can be synthesized from salicylic acid (SA) and formaldehyde via amines.
