Grignard reagents are used in the synthesis of fatty acids and fatty alcohols. 7-Tetradecanol also reacts with an acetyl derivative to produce molecule acetates, which are organic compounds containing the acetic acid radical (-COOH) bound to an ethyl group (-CH2CH3).
