Product Information
GSK-7975A is a drug that inhibits the activity of the intracellular proteases, such as cathepsin. GSK-7975A has been shown to be effective in treating pancreatitis by reducing the cytosolic calcium overload and mitochondrial membrane potential in cells. GSK-7975A also decreases intracellular calcium levels, which are activated by an increase in fatty acid levels. The drug prevents ATP depletion and decreases the amount of dinucleotide phosphate released from mitochondria. This drug has shown clinical relevance in inhibiting the activity of cytosolic proteases, such as cathepsin B and cathepsin L, which have been implicated in pancreatitis.
