Lauterine is a natural compound that is found in the essential oil of xylopia aromatica. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Lauterine has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, as well as cardioprotective effects, which may be due to its ability to induce cellular senescence in the heart tissue of mice. Lauterine is currently being examined for its potential use as an anticancer drug.
