Reynosin is a compound that has been isolated from the Chinese herb, Dendrobium officinale. It is considered to be a sesquiterpene lactone with a fatty acid side chain. Reynosin is known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of a number of enzymes, including target enzymes such as acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and cyclooxygenase (COX). The mechanism by which Reynosin inhibits these enzymes may be related to its ability to bind to the hydrophobic pocket on the enzyme molecule. This binding prevents access of substrate molecules and blocks their metabolism.
