Product Information
- 2-Azetidinone, 4-(Benzoyloxy)-
- (2R)-4-oxoazetidin-2-yl benzoate
- (2S)-4-oxoazetidin-2-yl benzoate
4-Benzoyloxy-2-azetidinone is a supercritical fluid that is used as a replacement for traditional organic solvents. It has been shown to be able to extract organic molecules from solid matrices, such as carbapenems, which are difficult to isolate. 4-Benzoyloxy-2-azetidinone can be used in the preparation of stereoselective molecules by protecting one or more of the four benzoate groups with an acetyl group. This process yields lactam and staphylococcus as products. 4-Benzoyloxy-2-azetidinone also has antibacterial properties and can immobilize bacteria cells. The immobilized bacteria cells can then be eluted using modifiers or enhancers, enhancing the recovery of desired product by up to ten times.
