Product Information

Name:
2,5-Bis(chloromethyl)thiophene
Description:

2,5-Bis(chloromethyl)thiophene is an organometallic compound that is a member of the metallocene family. It has been used in the production of organic light-emitting diodes and devices that emit light when heated. The luminescent properties of 2,5-bis(chloromethyl)thiophene are due to its ability to act as a singlet molecular exciton. This compound is insoluble in water and soluble in most organic solvents. The thermally activated reaction between 2,5-bis(chloromethyl)thiophene and ethylene has been observed at temperatures below 150°C.
2,5-Bis(chloromethyl)thiophene can be synthesised by reacting piperidine with vinylene in the presence of alkali metals such as sodium or potassium.
