7-o-Geranylscopoletin is a bioactive compound that belongs to the class of terpenes. It is an ether of geranylgeraniol and scopoletin. It has been found to have a strong interaction with estrogen, and also has melanogenic properties. 7-O-Geranylscopoletin can be found in the plant Obtusifolium cuneatum and the fungus Haplophyllum tuberculosum. The biosynthesis of this compound starts with farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP) as its precursor, which reacts with acridone or phenylacetaldehyde. This product then undergoes pericyclic reactions to produce the desired product 7-o-geranylscopoletin.
