- Phenanthrene-9,10-Diylamine
9,10-Diaminophenanthrene is a fluorescent dye that is used in the detection of fatty acids and nitrogen atoms. It emits fluorescence when irradiated with ultraviolet light or when it absorbs infrared radiation. The ternary complex formed between 9,10-diaminophenanthrene and fatty acids has been shown to be uv-sensitive. 9,10-Diaminophenanthrene has a redox potential that is higher than that of most organic compounds. It also shows viscosity properties that are similar to those of amides, which makes it a good candidate for use as an amide replacement in reactions involving carboxylic acid derivatives. 9,10-Diaminophenanthrene binds to its reaction partner with four coordinate bonds and reacts with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid in water solution to form the corresponding adducts.
