Product Information
1-Hydroxyrutaecarpine is an alkaloid that has been isolated from the plant Dictamnus albus. It is a competitive inhibitor of platelet aggregation and may be used to treat cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. 1-Hydroxyrutaecarpine is a precursor for the campesterol, phytosteroids, β-amyrin and acridone in the plant Dictamnus albus. This compound also has antibiotic properties and can inhibit bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. 1-Hydroxyrutaecarpine also specifically binds to markers expressed at high levels in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains (e.g., ESX-1 secretion system protein) and inhibits cell growth in culture.
