Product Information
- 1,2-Benzenedicarboxylic Acid, Mono(1-Methylpropyl) Ester
Mono-sec-butyl phthalate (MBP) is a monobenzyl phthalate that has been shown to have toxic effects on the liver. MBP is metabolized by enzymes in the liver and is activated by the enzyme cytochrome P450. This activation leads to increased production of reactive oxygen species, which can lead to DNA damage and cell death. MBP has been shown to be carcinogenic in rats and mice when administered orally or through injection, although it does not appear to be carcinogenic when inhaled.
