Product Information
Caboxine A is a natural product that is derived from the bark of the elegantine tree. It has been shown to have antioxidant properties by scavenging free radicals and inhibiting lipid peroxidation. Caboxine A also has anti-cholinesterase activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit acetylcholine esterase (AChE) in an assay. This compound also possesses radical scavenging activities that may be due to its ability to reduce the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO). Caboxine A is structurally related to galanthamine, a natural product that has been used for many years as an anticholinesterase agent for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
