Product Information
Methyl 2-(phenylamino)acetate hydrochloride is a serine protease inhibitor that prevents the breakdown of proteins by inhibiting the activity of serine proteases. It has been shown to be effective in treating chronic kidney disease, autoimmune diseases, and hepatitis. Methyl 2-(phenylamino)acetate hydrochloride binds to copper ions with high affinity and forms a complex which inhibits the activity of serine proteases. The molecular mechanism of inhibition is not fully understood, but it has been proposed that this reaction proceeds via an acylation reaction in which the enzyme's active site is blocked by a chemical group from MPAH.
