Description:Devazepide is a peptide that blocks the action of cholecystokinin, which is involved in the regulation of food intake and pancreatic function. Devazepide has been shown to inhibit the binding of cholecystokinin to its receptor in vitro, and antagonizes cholecystokinin-induced cytosolic Ca2+ increase, pancreatic secretion, and cck-a release. Devazepide has also been shown to be an antagonist of estrogen-benzoate receptors. This drug has been used as an experimental model for studying brain functions and physiological effects. Low potency may be due to its low affinity for the receptor or its inefficient absorption into the bloodstream.
