Product Information

Name:
Ethyl 4,6-dihydroxy-2-(trifluoromethyl)nicotinate
Description:

Ethyl 4,6-dihydroxy-2-(trifluoromethyl)nicotinate is a cytosolic calcium (Ca2+) ionophore that has been shown to inhibit actin filament formation. It also desensitizes Ca2+ receptors and increases the intracellular Ca2+ concentration by blocking the uptake of Ca2+ ions by the sarcoplasmic reticulum. This drug was found to increase protein transport in cells and decrease the levels of ATP. In addition, it has been shown to induce cell apoptosis and inhibit guanylate kinase activity. These effects are mediated through a regulatory domain on the gene product. The mechanism of action for this drug is currently being studied.
