Azido-PEG4-PFP ester is a fluorescent probe that can be used to detect and identify chromosomal DNA. It binds specifically to the sequence of the N. gonorrhoeae chromosome, which is located at position 8,075 in the N. gonorrhoeae nucleotide sequence. Azido-PEG4-PFP ester is also able to detect neisseria sequences, which are found at positions 5,000 and 10,000 in the neisseria nucleotide sequence. This probe has been used for screening and detection of chromosomal DNA sequences by fluorescence microscopy.
