KIN1148 binds to the hiv envelope protein gp120, thereby inhibiting its interaction with CD4 cells. It also activates the immune system by binding to the HLA-A2 antigen on human dendritic cells. In vitro studies have shown that KIN1148 inhibits the replication of influenza virus in cell culture. This drug also has potential for use as a therapeutic agent in pandemic influenza and avian influenza.
