Product Information
Epirapamycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It has been shown to have immunosuppressive effects, which may be due to its ability to bind to the cytosolic protein FKBP-12, a protein that regulates immune responses and the proliferation of T cells. Epirapamycin has also been shown to inhibit the formation of hygroscopicus mutants in erythrocytes of patients with sickle cell anemia, which may be due to its inhibition of DNA synthesis or protein synthesis.
