Product Information
Col003 is a small molecule that was designed to bind competitively to the human immunodeficient virus (HIV) protein, gp120. It is also a chaperone molecule that can be used for the treatment of HIV/AIDS and cancer. Col003 binds to a specific region of gp120 called the CD4 binding site and prevents gp120 from binding to CD4 receptors on cells. This prevents HIV from entering into the cell and spreading infection. Col003 has also been shown to inhibit viral replication by interfering with viral DNA synthesis in human cells infected with HIV-1 or HIV-2. The structure of Col003 was derived from Brassica oleracea proteins, particularly its sequence similarity with Collagen I.
