Description:
Thiol-dPEG®4-Acid is a monolayer that can be used for the protection of hydrophobic surfaces. The thiol group in this compound reacts with water and the amine group reacts with gold nanoparticles, which form a monolayer on the surface. This monolayer is resistant to reactions with oxygen and radicals such as singlet oxygen. Thiol-dPEG®4-Acid has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to produce singlet oxygen that kills cells.
