Product Information

Name:
CFTR corrector 2
Description:

CFTR corrector 2 is a heterocycle that binds to the CFTR protein. It is an analog of colistimethate sodium, which is a polypeptide antibiotic. The compound has been shown to be effective in treating acute pancreatitis, as well as chronic pancreatitis, by modulating the function of CFTR in the pancreas. CFTR corrector 2 is also a bifunctional compound that encompasses both carboxylate and amide functional groups. This allows it to be conjugated with organic acids such as lactate, glycolate, or acetate and thereby enter cells through passive diffusion. The compound can also be metabolized by cellular enzymes such as esterases or glucuronidases, which hydrolyze these conjugates into monocarboxylates and monamides respectively.
