Rhamnolipids C10-C10 are a surfactant that is used in pharmaceutical formulations. They are isolated from the fungus Aspergillus versicolor, and the mutant strain has been renamed FENGYCIN. Rhamnolipids C10-C10 have an inhibitory effect on the biosynthesis of fengycin, which is produced by the wild type strain. It also has regulatory effects on the enhancement of extracellular rhamnolipid biosynthesis and has a strong effect on trifluoride ion penetration. Rhamnolipids C10-C10 are stable under physiochemical conditions such as high temperatures and pH values, making them suitable for use in pharmaceutical formulations.
