Description:

3-(4-Bromophenyl)-9-phenylcarbazole is a carbazole derivative that has been used extensively in the fabrication of light emitting diodes (LEDs). 3-(4-Bromophenyl)-9-phenylcarbazole is synthesized by reacting n-hexane with 9-phenylanthracene, followed by bromination. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2/c with the lattice parameters a=7.98 Å, b=6.51 Å, c=6.14 Å and β=92°. 3-(4-Bromophenyl)-9-phenylcarbazole has been shown to have a high quantum efficiency and an efficiency of nearly 100%. It can be used as an organic semiconductor material for LEDs or as a phosphorescent dopant in OLEDs.
