This compound inhibits potassium channels, including the voltage gated K+ channel, and inhibits the activity of peptides that regulate ion channels. 2-Amino-5-[3-(1-piperazinyl)phenyl]-N-4-pyridinyl-3-pyridinecarboxamide was found to be a potent activator of glutamate receptors. In addition, this compound has been shown to inhibit the binding of antibodies to cells and can be used as an antibody inhibitor in cell biology experiments.
