(2S,3R)-(+)-3-Isopropyl-2-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrimido[2,1-b][1,3]benzothiazole is a synthetic compound that is a precursor for the production of phosphonates. It can be used in the synthesis of (±)-N-(4-(4′-chlorophenyl)phenyl)carbamic acid 1-(1,5-dimethylheptyl) ester. This product has an optimal reaction at pH 7 and a ring opening rate constant of 0.0028/sec at 25°C. The product is also derivatised with aldimines to form various derivatives such as α,β unsaturated carbonyl compounds.
