TY 51469 prevents the activation of MMP-9, an enzyme that plays a role in the degradation of collagen and elastin. This drug also inhibits dextran sulfate, which is an inflammatory bowel disease marker. TY 51469 has been shown to have some effects on liver function tests, including steatosis and elevation of serum transaminases. The drug has been shown to have no effect on hepatic fibrosis or serum lipids.
