N-Ethoxycarbonyl-2-ethoxy-1,2-dihydroquinoline is a transcriptional regulator that is structurally related to the 2-adrenergic receptor agonist, clonidine. It binds to the 5HT2 receptor and has been shown to have antimicrobial properties. N-Ethoxycarbonyl-2-ethoxy-1,2-dihydroquinoline has been shown to inhibit viral resistance in animals infected with influenza A virus. This drug also inhibits prolactin release in rats and humans through its binding to dopamine receptors. NEDQ is an inhibitor of human serum prolactin release.
