Mangiferolic acid is a chemical compound of the polyphenol family. It is found in mangos and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Mangiferolic acid also has inhibitory activities against the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an opportunistic pathogen that is resistant to many antibiotics. There are many other researchers who have studied manniferolic acid for its use in treating diarrhoea, cancer, and pancreatic disease. This compound has also been shown to be hepatoprotective by preventing liver injury caused by ethanol extracts from plants such as Tinospora cordifolia. Mangiferolic acid has also demonstrated antiviral activity against HIV-1 in laboratory studies.
