Product Information
Tetraethylphosphonium Bromide is a polycarboxylic acid that reacts with hydrogen bromide in the presence of an inorganic acid to produce tetraethyl bromide and the corresponding proton. Tetraethyl bromide is then reacted with an organic compound, such as an alcohol, to produce a fatty acid ester. The redox potential of this molecule can be used to measure the degree of unsaturation in fatty acids. Tetraethylphosphonium Bromide has been shown to be a solid catalyst for cationic polymerization reactions, which are useful for producing polymers with specific properties. FT-IR spectroscopy and NMR spectroscopy have been used to analyze this molecule and determine its structure.
