Phenylthiohydantoin-valine is a reactive compound with hydrogen ions. It is used in on-line sample preparation, where it reacts with the trifluoroacetic acid to produce the phenylthiohydantoin derivative. The acidity of this derivative can then be determined by spectrometry. The structural studies and amino acid analysis were performed using chromatographic techniques on liquid chromatographs. The specific antibody was used for the detection of pancreatic enzymes, and the reactive site was found to be lysine residues.
